Assistant Scientist supports laboratory for research in cell cycle regulation and PI3K signaling, to investigate novel pro-oncogenic roles of p27 in transcriptional regulation and epigenetics, and supports a project regarding how estrogen receptor and NFKB pathways interact to link estrogens, obesity, inflammation, and breast cancer stem cells. Other projects pursue how estrogen receptor and NFKB pathways interact to link estrogens, obesity, inflammation, and breast cancer stem cells.
All projects require discretion and judgment in research activities within project scope and methodologies. In particular, the Assistant Scientist's role requires in-depth knowledge of molecular biology, protocol/ method development, organizing and implementing complex research plans, analysis of data, and writing manuscripts for publication of findings.

Work InteractionsReporting to and receiving mentorship from the Principal Investigator, the
Assistant Scientist has duties that include but are not limited to:
- As needed, assists the Lab Manager in organizing purchase of reagents and supplies
- Assists with training junior lab members in routine protocols
- Assists in all organizational aspects of the laboratory per Georgetown University policies and procedure
- Independently manages the daily affairs of the research laboratory design
- Performs routine and complex laboratory research experiments
Qualifications- Ph.D. in a relevant field of cellular and molecular research
- At least 3 years of post -PhD research experience
- In-depth knowledge of molecular biology, protocol/ method development
- Broad knowledge of cancer research and experience in human cell/tissue culture, molecular biological techniques, experience with animal models
- Ability to use discretion and judgment in research activities within project scope and methodologies
- Ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines
- Highly motivated and detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and ability to collaborate with others
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently
- Ability to organize and implement complex research plans, perform analysis of data, and write manuscripts for publication of findings.
- Problem-solving skills
Preferred qualificationExperience in epigenetics/bioinformatics
