Description of Work:
Manage the molecular biology laboratory of Dr. Andrew Benson, including coordination of all lab functions and personnel, training of new graduate students, managing access and use of shared equipment by students and trainees in the Gut Biology laboratories, managing the service and maintenance of shared NFHC equipment. Participation in cutting edge research projects will also be conducted by the employee which will entail production and quality-control of high-throughput microbiome sequencing data and high-throughput qPCR analysis from large numbers of samples, coordinating genetic analysis of microbiome data with collaborating laboratories, identifying microorganisms, cloning, mapping, sequencing, and biochemical characterization of genes and gene products from various microorganisms.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field plus four years of lab or related experience. Project management and/or supervisory experience. Experience in all standard methods of molecular biology and genomics. Experience must demonstrate prioritization, organizational, communication, and facilitation skills. Record keeping and computer skills to include MS Office. Basic knowledge of bioinformatics pipelines and databases for genomics at the National Center for Biotechnology Information. Knowledge of compliance and safety regulations. Demonstrated ability to teach/train others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in biological sciences or related field.
Posted Salary: $45,760/yr. minimum
