The successful candidate will join the thriving faculty of the Markey Cancer Center, an NCI designated center (https://ukhealthcare.uky.edu/markey-cancer-center), whose research programs include a blend of basic, clinical and population research. Research areas of interest include basic cancer immunotherapy, tumor microenvironment, cancer immuno-genomics, cancer immuno-metabolism, immune monitoring & biomarker discovery, cancer vaccines, bioinformatics, and systems biology.

Candidates will be expected to build and maintain a high quality, extramurally funded research program; contribute to our teaching mission; mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and undergraduates; and provide service at a level commensurate with their career stage. We especially encourage applicants with research interests that embrace interdisciplinary approaches and can integrate with the University of Kentucky College of Medicine priority research areas: diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular disease, cancer, substance abuse and neuroscience.

MIMG faculty (http://microbiology.med.uky.edu/) have developed strong program in microbial pathogenesis and immunology and are currently building a microbiome interest group. The department has an excellent collaborative atmosphere and strong ties with various centers in the Medical Center and other Colleges.
