The Precision Pathology Biobanking Center (PPBC) is a newly established Research Center at MSK and Department of Pathology.
We are looking for a Software Engineer who is interested in devising robust solutions to power PPBCs efforts in creating a cutting-edge collection and analytics platform for healthcare data. Computational Big data analytics on complex structured, text, and image data, which Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) has collected over the past 20+ years, is a major strategic priority for PPBC.
The right candidate will have a track record of building and deploying high-quality applications. You are expected to take ownership of software developments, facilitate communications between users and engineering teams, and carry product initiatives from concept to production.
Modernize and optimize applications used by the PPBC Biobank to better support its day-to-day operations: acquisition, annotation, distribution, and storage management of biospecimen for clinical research
Write clean, tested, and well-documented code
Work closely with IT groups throughout MSK (clinical pathology IT, DigITs, CRIT) to design, implement, and deploy database systems, data pipelines, and data visualization dashboards for PPBC
Act as a liaison and bridge communications between research/laboratory staffs and engineering teams. Contribute ideas for new features and identify areas for improvement in software tools
Perform database integrity checks and prepare the PPBC informatics pipeline for clinical certification (CAP, CLIA)
2+ years of soft engineering experience; background in biology, medicine or biochemistry desired
Proven experience in backend development (Python, Java, C#/C++, or JS Node), coding, testing, and debugging modern web applications and services
Strong knowledge in relational or unstructured databases
Good communications skills and a knack for working in cross-functional teams
