The Al-Sady and El-Samad labs at UCSF have a Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) opportunity. Broadly, our labs at the intersection of synthetic and systems biology and chromatin biology. In this project, we are examining whether we can harvest epigenetic regulator parts from across evolution to craft synthetic gene regulatory circuits with novel behaviors. Specifically, we will use fission yeast as a testbed. The candidate will work under direct supervision of Dr. Al-Sady or a postdoctoral fellow to obtain chromatin regulator homologs from diverse phyla and species and replace the endogenous fission yeast regulators.
