The Department of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Simon Cheng. Position requires interest in ferroptosis, immunotherapy, and radiation biology with studies that are being conducted on therapy resistance pathways in lung and brain cancers.
Working with leading academic clinicians and basic scientists, the successful candidate will be at the intersection of genetics, tumor immunology, radiation biology, metabolomics and bioinformatics with the ultimate goal of developing novel treatments that can be rapidly translated into the clinic. This work will generate understanding of resistance to treatment with checkpoint blockade and development of novel treatments/combinations and biomarkers, and identify new targets for novel therapeutics. The results of this research will be communicated by published outcomes in high-impact journals.
We are seeking candidates with experience in molecular biology, genomic analysis, cellular immunology, multiflow cytometry, cell culture work, and preclinical tumor models. Bioinformatic skills, including programming, are a plus. Self-motivated and creative individuals with a track record in the field of immunology/tumor immunology and/or oncology, with relevant publications should apply. Successful candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills, be willing to seek out grant funding from external sources and participate in grant writing to support independent research.
