The Chief will lead a dynamic team of faculty dedicated to excellent and innovative clinical care, education, research, and advocacy for underserved communities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to multi-dimensional growth at Children’s and Emory related to hematology, oncology, bone marrow transplant, cellular therapy and other pediatric cancer and blood disorders reflecting all three of our missions of excellent clinical care, education, and discovery. Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center Our center is home to over 130 faculty, who are nationally recognized clinicians, educators, researchers, and leaders in the fields of hematology, oncology, blood and marrow transplant, psychology, cell and gene therapy, and epidemiology and population health.  Through our tireless research efforts, including more than 230 clinical trials (of which over 30 are investigator-initiated trials), and our clinical achievements, we are actively working to transform the way we care for children and families facing cancer and hematologic disorders. We are one of the largest pediatric cancer centers in the Southeast, treating over 500 new cancer patients annually. We are the largest pediatric hematology program in the nation, and we manage the largest pediatric sickle cell disease program in the United States, treating more than 2,000 unique patients each year. In 2025, we performed 81 blood and marrow transplants, making us one of the largest BMTCT programs in the country. We have a psychology program with a family- centered approach with two primary domains: pediatric psychology and pediatric neuropsychology. We have robust programs in cancer predisposition, precision medicine, survivorship and fertility preservation, primary immune dysregulation disorders, and we are one of approximately 21 premier pediatric oncology programs in the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) Phase I and Pilot Consortium, ranking top 4 in the country for COG therapeutic trial enrollment.   ·    The Aflac Cancer Blood Disorders Center is one of the largest cancer centers in the country. ·    Children’s has the largest pediatric hematology and pediatric sickle cell disease program in the nation and one of the largest blood and marrow transplant programs in the nation. ·     In 2025, we were ranked number 1 in NIH funding for sickle cell research.   Founded in 1937, Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Georgia and one of only 57 in the country. Winship has more than 689 members, representing faculty from 41 departments in five Emory schools, as well as Georgia Tech and partner institutions.   The Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and the Children’s Physician Group (CPG), the largest pediatric multispecialty group practice in Georgia, are staffed by School of Medicine faculty involved in pediatric clinical care, teaching, research, and child advocacy. The department is comprised of 19 divisions and close to 700 clinical and research-intensive faculty making it one of the largest pediatric departments in the southeastern United States.
