- The Issuree Lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team, which is focused on investigating the epigenetic regulation of adaptive T cell immune response in the context of cancer, autoimmune, and infectious diseases. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge translational research utilizing both pre-clinical mouse models and human samples and to further our fundamental understanding of how T cells develop and function.
- The postdoctoral research scholar position provides an opportunity to join an existing team that is conducting pre-clinical and basic clinical research assessing the novel pathways that can be manipulated to improve T cell responses to infections and cancer. The lab is also greatly invested in studying pathways that induce the development of cells that have tolerogenic functions in the body, e.g., Regulatory T cells. The post-doctoral research scholar will work primarily with Dr. Issuree and her collaborators in the clinic and research labs. The scholar will perform experiments, analyze data from existing projects, give scientific presentations, develop manuscripts to submit to leading journals, provide input on the development of grant proposals, and take an active role in current and future research.
- Dr. Issuree's team has expertise in the use of genome, epigenomic and transcriptomic assays and integrated bioinformatic analyses to uncover transcriptional nodes that are essential for T cell fitness and development. Examples include the combinatorial use of ATAC-Seq, scRNA-Seq, and cutting-edge DNA methylome sequencing. There is an opportunity for the postdoctoral scholar to train in this area and develop bioinformatic skills, if interested.
- The post-doctoral candidate's specific project-related responsibilities will be developed in consultation with Dr. Issuree and may include project management, data collection, development of research hypotheses, analytic strategies, and scholar-initiated analysis and projects related to the lab's core projects as well as opportunities to present at conferences, and develop the skills to become an independent career path.
- The post-doctoral position is a one-year full-time appointment. Reappointment for additional years is possible depending on the fellow's performance as it relates to their initiative, support of the lab, their publication record, and available funding.
