Position Summary
Assists in developing and conducting research projects, including experimental design, data analysis, and documentation of experiment results.
The bioinformatics position focuses on functional genomics using large next-generation sequencing datasets with an emphasis on Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) and RNA-seq. The main interest of our laboratory is to understand the molecular mechanisms that control blood cancer development. Research opportunities are available for highly motivated individuals to study the role of mutations in genes and pre-mRNA splicing changes that control cell growth and blood cancer development. Research will include analysis of large whole genome sequencing data sets and RNA-seq data sets generated from various hematopoietic cell populations (including blood stem and progenitor cells) isolated from novel mutant mouse models and primary patient samples with blood cancers. All these studies involve state of the art technologies and incorporate bioinformatics, functional genomics, next-generation sequencing, hematopoiesis, stem cell, and tumor biology. Applicants should be proficient in python and R, knowledgeable in statistical modeling (in particular, generalized linear models) and experienced in whole genome sequencing, whole exome sequencing and RNA-seq analysis, including alignment, transcript assembly/quantification (e.g,kallisto), gene count quantification , differential gene expression (e.g., DESeq, edgeR), and differential splicing (e.g., DEXseq, rMATS). Pipeline development languages WDL,CWL, Nextflow. Experience in Google Cloud platform and AWS.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Independently develop a wide variety of computer programs to meet the needs of data collection, quality control, analysis and report generation.
Lead and manage research projects and work together with junior members to complete data processing and analysis following specific timelines.
Lead complex data analysis and writes interpretative reports for Principal investigators.
Lead and collaborate within cross-functional teams.
Lead analytical support for internal projects and external collaborations.
Supervise database structure: includes updating, validating, curating and harmonizing longitudinal, cross-sectional data from different sources.
Provide a centralized, confidential and secure access to phenotypic data to Principal investigators.
Lead the response to data queries from Principal Investigators and external collaborators.
Create reports and prepare highly technical presentations.
Write manuscripts and communications for conference presentations.
Present data in meetings and conferences.
Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$72,900.00 - $132,200.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
