National Jewish Health, a world leader in respiratory research, in Denver, CO invites applications for a Senior Researcher under the mentorship of Dr. Anthony N. Gerber. This position is focused on genetics and genomics of lung disease, with active projects directed at understanding pharmacogenomics and environmental risk in asthma, and the pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in relationship to MUC5B regulation. Experimental approaches include deep sequencing based methods, such as PRO-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, and MicroC, bioinformatics analysis, and functional genomics.
Position Summary Performs on a very independent basis all phases of experimental investigations. Develops and completes scientific projects on own merit. Presents data in a formal setting.
Essential Duties
Leads the work of co-workers providing effective communication, direction, guidance and resources as appropriate.
Plans, develops, operates, records, collaborates and reports on major research projects on a very independent basis.
Writes and reviews manuscripts for publication. Receives acknowledgements on outside publications.
Reviews and/or writes grants submitted for funding.
Presents data in a formal setting such as national / regional meetings. Submits abstracts for these presentations.
Demonstrates advanced proficiency in data analysis, statistical tabulations and data preparation for presentation.
Acts as technical advisor to laboratory technical, support and auxiliary staff.
Attends seminars, meetings, and reads publications relevant to project development and completion.
Plans, develops and oversees projects carried out by graduate students on rotation, summer students or other temporary laboratory personnel.
Oversees laboratory functions during the absence of the primary investigator.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelors of Science degree in related field required.
Work Experience: A minimum of six (6) years of progressively technical experience in general laboratory methodologies required. A Masters degree in a related field will suffice for two (2) years experience. A Ph.D. in a related field will suffice for four (4) years experience.
