Clinical Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Laboratories Faculty
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (USA). The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan) in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is seeking an additional full-time academic faculty member to join our Division of Molecular and Genomics Pathology, encompassing the Clinical Cytogenetics, Michigan Medical Genetics, and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratories.
The successful candidate will join a team of three other Laboratory Genetics and Genomics faculty in the Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Laboratories. The candidate will share responsibility for the diagnostic interpretation, sign-out, test development, and clinical consultation in the clinical cytogenetics and molecular genetics testing laboratories as well as responsibility for NGS review in the molecular diagnostics laboratory. Participation in the technical direction of the laboratories, as well as active involvement in our teaching and research missions, will also be expected.
The Cytogenetics Laboratory offers a full menu of prenatal and postnatal constitutional testing and cancer analyses, including karyotype, FISH, and SNP microarrays. The Molecular Laboratories offer a wide range of germline and somatic testing including single-gene tests by PCR-based methods (qualitative, quantitative, and methylation-specific), targeted NGS panels and methylation array. The Division offers ACGME-accredited fellowship training programs in Laboratory Genetics & Genomics and Molecular Genetic Pathology.
The ideal applicant will have an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD and be ABMGG board certified or eligible in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics, Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics, or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. Experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) is required, and experience in whole-exome or whole genome sequencing variant analysis is highly desired. This clinical track appointment will be at a rank commensurate with candidate experience and accomplishments.
The laboratories serve a 900-bed adult tertiary care hospital, a 175-bed pediatric hospital, expanding outpatient services at over 20 sites, and a growing reference laboratory business. They support a Comprehensive Cancer Center with robust oncology services, including busy leukemia, lymphoma, and stem cell transplant programs, in addition to a specialized prenatal/obstetrics service and outstanding clinical genetics training programs.
State-of-the-art research laboratories, a large community of investigators committed to team science, and a diverse, world-class medical center contribute to a nurturing and supportive environment for research endeavors. The laboratories are located in a state-of-the-art new facility that fosters collaboration and innovation.
