Position Summary/Description:
The Department of Biostatistics in the Gillings School of Global Public Health and the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are seeking a tenure-track faculty member with a strong record of methodological and collaborative research in cancer and genomics. This 12-month full-time position is open at the Associate Professor rank with a primary appointment in the Department of Biostatistics and a secondary appointment in the LCCC. The faculty member will be a member of the LCCC Biostatistics Core and will collaborate with basic science, translational, and clinical researchers at Lineberger. The faculty member will mentor biostatistics graduate students and serve as doctoral dissertation advisor. This position requires teaching one course per academic year in advanced statistical and data science methods. Service in the Department of Biostatistics and to the Gillings School, the University, and the profession of biostatistics at large is expected.
The specific research focus of this search is in genomics, cancer research, and machine learning methods. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record in each of these areas commensurate with the tenure-track Associate Professor rank. Expertise especially in statistical methods for cancer precision medicine, replicability and reproducibility of genomic prediction models, and high throughput epigenomics is essential, as well as prior experience in clinical trials and collaborative experience within a cancer center. Prior experience in teaching advanced statistical methods, data science and statistical computing courses is also essential.

Education and Experience:
A strong record of methodological and collaborative research in cancer research and genomics. Specifically, the candidate should have demonstrated expertise in statistical methods for cancer precision medicine, replicability and reproducibility of genomic prediction models, high throughput epigenomics as well as demonstrated experience in clinical trials and collaborative experience within a cancer center. Experience teaching advanced statistical methods, data science and statistical computing courses, as well as advising dissertation students in Biostatistics is strongly preferred. The applicant should have excellent communication skills.
