The Kugel lab in the Human Biology Division is looking for a reliable, organized, detail-oriented Lab Technician to support ongoing exciting research on the dysregulation of chromatin modifying enzymes contribute to hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) cancers and, further, whether these pathways present liabilities that can be exploited for cancer therapy. This lab's research explores the biology of different transcriptional and genetic subtypes of cholangiocarcinoma and pancreatic cancer; how the epigenome influences subtype determination; and discovering unifying biological characteristics that define these subtypes, which with deeper understanding could improve patient therapy.
This position is ideal for an individual who is seeking an entry-level introduction to a research lab environment, with an interest in gaining valuable research experience and technical skills. The candidate should have an interest in molecular biology, genetics and/or cancer biology, be able to follow written protocols and show attention to detail. Longer engagement with greater involvement with the lab is also possible based on performance.
Responsibilities
Under close supervision of research technicians and the PI, our Lab Technician will:
- Assist with routine lab tasks including stocking, cleaning and organization
- Assist with experiment quantification and documentation
- Prepare LB broth, plates and reagents
- Prepare stock solutions and aliquot reagents
- Perform midi and maxi preps
- Learn new lab techniques to assist current lab members
Qualifications
- College-level coursework in biology and/or chemistry, including some lab experience.
- Undergraduate degree (preferred) or current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $19.56 to $27.84 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
