Cancer incidence and mortality are generally higher in males than in females, but its underlying biology remains elusive. Bladder cancer is the poster child of cancer sex differences, having male-to-female risk ratios ranking 1st in mortality and 2nd in incidence. Our lab specializes in using cutting edge -omics technologies, a wide range of innovative animal cancer models, and organoids to elucidate the biological mechanisms of sex differences in bladder cancer; we recently published several works that pioneer new concepts on sex as a biological variable in cancers (DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.aar5598
