The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California and Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, are seeking a candidate with training and expertise clinical chemistry and other related disciplines, described below, as a full-time faculty member with clinical service, research (clinical and translational), and teaching responsibilities at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. As Assistant Director of the Clinical Chemistry section, he/she will join a senior team in the Division of Laboratory Medicine.
The successful candidate must have a MD, DO, MD/PhD, or PhD degree and be Board certified (or Board eligible) by the American Board of Pathology (in CP or AP/CP), American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC), and for candidates with clinical biochemistry, by American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). Candidates must have completed a Clinical Chemistry fellowship. Training in Clinical Biochemical Genetics fellowship is desirable. For PhD candidates, Laboratory Director eligibility/licensure in the State of California is required. Candidates must have strong analytical and consultative clinical skills in clinical chemistry. Experience and interest in related areas including clinical biochemistry, forensic toxicology, molecular diagnostics, proteomics/metabolomics, information sciences, laboratory management sciences, or point of care testing is preferred. Candidates must be experienced in new assay development/validation and test utilization management, general core laboratory automation, immunoassay analyzers, HPLC, GC, and LC/MS-MS. Applied research and clinical experience in tumor cell biology, immunology, statistics science, metabolic disorders or molecular genetics are desirable. Additional responsibilities include participation in interdisciplinary post-graduate medical education, including our ComACC fellowship training program, and teaching medical technology students.
