Columbia University is a leader in biomedical research and is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Columbia's Vagelos School of Physicians and Surgeons is amongst the top research universities and provides an outstanding intellectual environment. The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center provides outstanding Biomedical Research Cores. The HICCC houses 12 core facilities or shared resources that provide services essential to basic and translational cancer research, to which the applicant will have continued full access on a 24/7 basis.
The Schvartzman Lab is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Scientist interested in exploring the intersections between intracellular metabolism and epigenetics in the context of differentiation and cancer. We use a combination of classic molecular biology techniques and novel microscopy and chromatin profiling assays to understand the impact of metabolic alterations on cell fate decisions, cellular reprogramming, DNA replication, and oncogenesis. We are also interested in how these events play out in the context of colon cancer, using patient biopsies to generate testable hypotheses that will help us uncover novel therapeutic targets. We are committed to building a diverse work environment that maximizes each individual's unique contributions to our mission. Passion for discovery, diversity, communication and work/life balance is our core values - find out more on our website: https://schvartzmanlab.org.
