The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Acting Chair Dr. Peter Takacs, M.D., PhD, MBA at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), is seeking an outstanding ABGC/ABMG Board Certified or Board Eligible prenatal genetic counselor to join the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The MFM division is a regional referral center for Eastern Virginia and Northern North Carolina and is currently staffed by 10 faculty with diverse interests in all aspects of maternal-fetal medicine. The MFM division also supports a board-certified fellowship program and an infrastructure conducive for clinical research activities.

Primary responsibilities:

• Provide prenatal and preconception genetic counseling to a diverse population, serving high risk patients
• Coordination of genetic screening and testing and disclosure of results
• Preconception genetic counseling with referrals from local fertility specialists
• Educational resource for patients, families, providers and medical staff
• Opportunity to serve as a clinical rotation site for Virginia Commonwealth University

Ideal Candidates will demonstrate strength in providing counseling to individuals and families with increased risk of genetic conditions and providing management of risks for aneuploidy and other genetic issues, with an emphasis on patient safety, quality, and communication.
