CRISPR Assistant/Associate Adjunct Professor

The UCSF Department of Neurological Surgery and it's Brain Tumor Center is offering a faculty position to lead an effort in developing gene editing technologies for treating brain tumors. The successful applicant will use genetic and genomic approaches to understand the fundamentals of cancer biology, such as genetic pathway interactions, epigenetic changes and cell-type variations, and how genetic and epigenetic genome editing can be used in the treatment of brain tumors.

The applicant must have a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Genetics, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology, or a related field. Experience working with genome editing and neuronal cell models (e.g., differentiation of hiPSC to neurons or rodent primary neuronal cultures) is preferred. Wet-lab experience with whole-genome assays (e.g., 4C, HiC, off-target analysis) is also preferred. Applicants should have an established track record of success in a research environment and also be comfortable working in a collegial environment in which collaboration is encouraged. Candidates are expected to have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working within the consortia of labs in the department and at UCSF.
