Job Description:

• Contributes to the conduct of scientific research projects and to the organization the labâ™s research activities.

• Performs experiments to characterize the role of genome and chromatin structure in controlling gene expression. Technologies used routinely in the lab include genome engineering (Crisp/Cas9), chromatin profiling (ChIP-Seq, Cut&Run, ATAC-Seq) and conformation assays (Hi-C), single-cell transcriptomics, in situ hybridization.

• Trains and assists students/postdocs/collaborators in the technologies mentioned above.

• Oversees our mouse colony.

• Participates in laboratory meetings and functions.

• Provides logistical support for the smooth and efficient running of the lab (organization, equipment maintenance logs, stocks and ordering).

• Manages, maintains, and ensures laboratory compliance to the human subjects (IRB), biosafety (IBC), and animal usage (IACUC) protocols.

• Ensures adherence to safe laboratory practices, proper upkeep of the laboratory environment and equipment.

• Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.

• Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.

• Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field.

Experience:

• Previous research experience in a laboratory setting. Previous experience with genomics, cell culture or mouse models would be an asset.

Preferred Competencies

• Ability to work autonomously, to prioritize and manage workload to meet critical project milestones and deadlines.

• Ability to follow and troubleshoot experimental research protocols.

• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills.
