The University of Southern California Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, invites applications for the position of Chair of the Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy, at the rank of Full Professor (Open Track).Â

Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is the top ranked private school/college of pharmacy in the nation and a global leader in producing professional graduates with the knowledge and skills to practice in various settings including, but not limited to academia, community, managed care, industry, and health system settings. The Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy engages the largest number of faculty in the School and is vital to the Schoolâs mission, vision and strategic agenda.
The Chair serves as the academic and administrative leader of the Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy. Demonstrating expertise within the discipline of clinical pharmacy, the Chair exemplifies and supports quality instruction, research, practice, service and scholarship. The department features faculty with excellence in these area within a wide range of activities and expertise and requires the commitment of a chair who can support these diverse profiles and academic career paths.
The Chair is a member of the leadership team of the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Chair will work with the Dean and the Senior Leadership Council to design, develop and implement the organization, strategies, policies and procedures that deliver a superior programmatic advancement, student learning and postgraduate training, faculty development and advancement, and performance assessment program within the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. This position is classified as a full-time, 12-month per year, faculty position with an administrative appointment.
In addition to the Doctor of Pharmacy, the Department offers Graduate Masterâs and Doctoral programs in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics as part of the Pharmaceutical and Translational Sciences graduate program of the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmacuetical Sciences. Â These graduate programs focus on several research areas including pharmacogenomics, clinical and experimental therapeutics, bioinformatics and pharmacoepidemiology.
The Chair, Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy, reports to the Dean and has the following administrative responsibilities in the School:
Serves as the departmentâs chief academic officer, overseeing the departmentâs contributions to the Schoolâs educational and post-doctoral training programs
Guides the development and success of the tenure track and non-tenure track clinical faculty, consisting of approximately 40 full-time faculty, as well as adjunct and any part time faculty within the Department
Works in partnership with the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs to initiate and direct plans for faculty recruitment and retention, as well as appointments, promotions, tenure and post-tenure actions in compliance with all School and University policies
Works in partnership with the Deanâs leadership team including Associate and Assistant Deans and other Department Chairs to ensure programmatic advancement, experiential training, excellence in education, curricular development, assessment, DEI initiatives and the expansion of clinical practice, research and scholarship
Manages department personnel activities, including staff evaluations, ensures consistency in the enforcement of policies
Collaborates with Executive Director of Health Systems at Keck Medical Center of USC and the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs to ensure continuous clinical programmatic development and implementation.
Represents the Department within the School, the University, and with external constituencies and partners
Acts as the departmentâs chief administrative officer, manages the budget and accounts supporting the departmentâs functions and funding of select faculty pursuits
Retains an infrastructure of mentorship and support for the development of junior faculty and advancement of department faculty
Fosters interprofessional education within the universityâs health profession schools as well as with external partners
Supports practice advancement opportunities that align with government, health plan, and health system priorities
Enables cross-disciplinary research, practice, and scholarly partnerships
Prior examples of teaching experience, excellence and content and performance evaluations are requested. Qualified candidates will preferably have demonstrated experience or leadership in diversity and inclusion within their prior academic and professional work environments that they can bring to the education setting.
Applicants must have a Pharrm.D., or a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, demonstrated high-level clinical practice experience, and preferably an established record of substantive, funded research in an area of clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical economics, public health, health outcomes, education, or clinical translational research. Applicants should have a record of accomplishment in scholarship, teaching, and service commensurate with academic appointment at the rank of full professor, with a minimum of three years of experience in a leadership role in an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy or equivalent administrative experience. Moreover, applicants should have a history of demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in research, teaching and service.

The annual base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $225,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidateâs work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
