Specialist- Ingraham Lab

A Specialist position with a minimum one-year commitment is available immediately in the Ingraham Laboratory at the Mission Bay campus of UCSF. The Ingraham Lab focuses on research about how to regulate metabolic and behavioral responses to optimize physiology. They seek to discover crucial hormone-responsive mechanisms in the liver that maintain metabolic health in female mice during systemic inflammation. Findings from their research program are highly relevant to women's health. There will be a specific focus on how to unravel mechanisms that drive female-specific inflammatory responses during bacterial infections. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, thinks creatively, and is able to make independent, intellectual contributions to their research as demonstrated by a record of publication and awarded funding.

Required Qualifications:
• PhD in Molecular, Cellular or Endocrine Biology or related field and 4 years of experience in postdoctoral research.
• Required techniques include: qPCR, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, western blot, animal dissection, primary hepatocyte isolation and culture, infection studies in mice and next generation sequencing library preparation and downstream bioinformatic analysis (RNAseq, ChIPseq).
• Competency in mouse survival surgeries, including gonadectomy
• Must be proficient with molecular biology techniques, particularly those associated with the analysis of gene expression and regulation and skeletal biology experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with mouse genetics and colony husbandry are highly desired.
• Post-graduate training in field
