Position Summary The Department of Pediatrics (DoP) is seeking a full-time licensed genetic counselor for two innovative projects focused on advancing diagnosis and care for individuals with rare genetic disorders. The position will encompass two roles, one focused on expanded access to clinical and research genomic sequencing, and the second focused on the launch of multidisciplinary clinics for rare genetic disorders.
The DoP is developing an 'on call' genetic counseling clinic aimed at increasing access and reducing wait times for exome and genome sequencing. We are seeking a GC to play a central role in shaping this delivery model and supporting Divisions across the DoP based upon their clinical needs. This role primarily provides pre- and post-test genetic counseling for exome and genome sequencing. The GC in this role would serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the many providers throughout the DoP.
The DoP has also developed six multidisciplinary clinics dedicated to delivering exceptional clinical care for individuals with selected rare genetic disorders. We are seeking a genetic counselor to play a central role in shaping these innovative programs. The successful candidate will lead the development of best-practice standards and oversee centralized tracking of key performance metrics, including family satisfaction measures. This individual will help define patient eligibility criteria, streamline intake and triage processes, and establish standardized procedures for follow-up care. The role also offers opportunities for direct engagement with families-providing education, guidance, and support during clinic sessions as needed as well as involvement in outreach and marketing initiatives in collaboration with patient advocacy organizations.
