NYU Sydney is seeking a lecturer to teach the course 'Molecular and Cell Biology I' to undergraduate students during the NYU semester of August-November 2026. Class is tentatively scheduled to meet twice a week with lectures and recitations tentatively on Wednesdays and Thursdays 11am-1pm, though final schedules will be discussed with the chosen candidate.
Responsibilities of the instructor include preparing and leading the weekly class sessions and recitations, as well as course coordination, writing assignments, and grading. Lecturers are paid at competitive casual academic rates aligned with local enterprise agreements. In addition to their teaching duties, they will be paid to attend periodic meetings and training, including an induction meeting during the orientation week prior to the start of the semester.
Classes take place at the University of Sydney's Camperdown/Darlington Campus.
Course Description
This course will provide an in-depth study of cell biology, with an emphasis on the molecular aspects of cell function. Topics include protein structure and synthesis, gene expression and its regulation, cell replication, and specialized cell structure and function. The course provides an introduction to genomics and bioinformatics and examines developmental biology, evolution, and systems biology.
