The Yu lab within the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to develop string algorithms and bioinformatics tools for analyzing biological sequence data. The Yu lab has been one of the pioneers in both developing rigorous mathematical theory to understand sequence transformations and in engineering software that turns that theory into usable bioinformatics software. Much of the lab’s recent applied work has been on tools for analyzing metagenomic datasets, though we are broadly interested in biological sequences from other sources as well (e.g. RNA-seq).
