Position description The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation and the University of California, Irvine, invite exceptional researchers to apply for the prestigious two-year Beckman Postdoctoral Fellowship. This distinguished and well-funded fellowship supports innovative research across all medical areas using chemical, biochemical, structural biology, and genetic techniques focused on the biology and pathology of the visual system. By broadening its focus, the program fosters interdisciplinary collaborations, driving significant advancements in understanding the complex, interconnected systems of the eye and beyond, serving as a milestone toward an independent academic career. Fellows will engage in cutting-edge research that advances medical sciences, utilizing advanced technologies such as gene therapy, regenerative medicine, and cutting-edge imaging to address multifactorial vision disorders. These examples illustrate the fellowship's commitment to pioneering transformative projects that enhance our knowledge of eye diseases and accelerate the development of comprehensive treatments. The candidate will be affiliated with the Brunson Center for Translational Vision Research, a diverse group of researchers focused on understanding and curing visual disorders.
