FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Chemistry at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biochemistry beginning Fall 2026 at the Assistant Professor rank. We encourage applications from candidates in any area of Biochemistry, including but not limited to studies of the structure and function of nucleic acids, proteins, or carbohydrates or the biochemistry of gene expression, with potential for collaboration with faculty in the department. Expertise in innovative approaches including analytical methods and computational tools is encouraged.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have: 1) a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline; 2) an outstanding record of scholarly publication and plans for an independent research program with the potential for external funding; and 3) a commitment to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas related to their scholarly interest. Credentials appropriate for an appointment to the CUNY doctoral faculty are required. Located in the Biomedical Corridor of the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Hunter College is a PhD-granting institution. COMPENSATION
Compensation is commensurate with experience within the range of $79,598-$94,909.

CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
