Job Overview

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children?s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine?s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Cancer Biology is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.
The Department of Cancer Biology is seeking two full time tenure-track faculty (https://med.uc.edu/cancerbiology) at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. The department is expanding and seeking applications from highly qualified and innovative independent cancer researchers. The rank of the appointment (Assistant/Associate Professor) is open and will be commensurate with the professional accomplishments of the selected applicant.
The search is open to all candidates that aim to address fundamental questions in cancer biology. We especially encourage applications from investigators who have impressive command of 1) innovative cutting-edge analytical approaches in cancer chemical biology (e.g., metabolomics, bioorthogonal chemistry, biochemical engineering, metallobiochemistry, drug development, synthetic biology) and 2) emerging systems-level technologies to discover mechanisms of cancer biology (e.g., spatial ?omics technologies, imaging, data informatics, directed evolution, artificial intelligence). Candidates whose research focus will complement and/or augment the current Department of Cancer Biology interests in cancer metabolism, cell signaling, gene regulation, hormone-dependent tumors, environmentally induced tumors, and tumor microenvironment will be prioritized.
The candidate(s) will join a robust research-focused department comprised of well-funded and highly collaborative faculty. Faculty labs are housed in the architecturally renowned Vontz Center for Molecular Studies, which is home to an interdisciplinary basic and clinical faculty from the Departments of Cancer Biology, Radiation Oncology, and the Division of Hematology/Oncology, as well as the Cancer and Cell Biology Graduate Program (https://med.uc.edu/education/cancer-biology-graduate/about-doctoral). Additional campus-wide alliances with top-ranked Cincinnati Children?s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), the Cincinnati VA Medical Center, and UC Cancer Center (UCCC) provide an unparalleled intellectual environment that is well-supported institutionally by a comprehensive portfolio of core facilities and ample opportunities for intramural funding. Essential Functions
Lead a research group in mechanistic investigation of fundamental questions in cancer biology and/or application of innovative technologies to produce new cancer biology discoveries.
Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
Other faculty responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education
Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent degree.
Required Experience
Three years of postdoctoral experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Track record demonstrating impactful publications in cancer-relevant research.

Compensation Information
A competitive salary together with substantial start-up funding commensurate with the candidate's experience will be provided. UC faculty members have the option to contribute to a state retirement plan (STRS) or an alternative retirement plan (ARP).
