Junior, Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist - Graham lab

The Graham lab is seeking a Junior, Assistant, Associate, or Full rank Specialist to assist in basic science research studying how epigenetics contributes to brain tumor formation, disease progression and treatment resistance using novel stem cell-based models. Job duties will include using sterile technique to maintain and propagate cell lines such as pluripotent stem cells, generation of gene edited cell lines, generation and maintenance of brain organoids, molecular cloning, epigenetic profiling such as CUT&RUN, single cell sequencing assays, Western Blotting and immunohistochemistry. There will also be opportunities to participate in intracranial and subcutaneous implantation of cells into mice, followed by treatment and monitoring of these animals and euthanasia when appropriate. Requisite training and supervision will initially be provided directly by Dr. Graham and other senior laboratory members in anticipation of the employee performing such experiments independently within 1-2 months of joining the research team. Additional responsibilities include data analysis and presentation as well as lab management (ordering, maintaining lab protocols, orienting new lab members). Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must possess a Bachelor's degree in a Life Sciences field, such as Biology, Neuroscience, biochemistry, or related field or with at least four years of research experience, by the time of hire.
• Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a Master's degree in a Life Sciences field, such as Biology, Neuroscience, biochemistry, or related field or a baccalaureate degree in a Life Sciences field, such as Biology, Neuroscience, biochemistry, or related field with 3 or more years of research experience, by the time of hire.
• Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a Master's degree (or equivalent degree) in a Life Sciences field, such as Biology, Neuroscience, biochemistry, or related field or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization, by the time of hire.
• Specialist appointed at the Full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) in a Life Sciences field, such as Biology, Neuroscience, biochemistry, or related field or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization, by the time of hire.
• Prior experience with basic wet lab research techniques related to the current position (such as pipetting, cell culture, molecular biology techniques).
• Ability to ask scientific questions and desire to learn how to independently plan a series of experiments to answer that question.
• Ability to work in a team with excellent communication skills, leading to scientific presentations and manuscript preparation/submission.
• Organizational skills required for maintenance of accurate laboratory notebook and lab management tasks.
• Applicants' materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior managerial experience.
• Prior independent research experience.
