Responsible for application development supporting business objectives while providing expertise in all phases of the software development lifecycle: conception, design, testing, production, and maintenance. Analyses, designs and builds applications using standard application design patterns and systematic approaches to application integration. Works on new and existing applications. Performs hands-on development, mentors junior developers, and assists in architecting solutions. Serves as liaison to internal customers, research groups and various business support areas.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Functions as the single point of contact to a cross-functional team for various managed applications. Responsible for the development and delivery lifecycle during the following phases:
Requirement Assessment: Works with inter-departmental teams to analyze and understand business requirements. Provides technical expertise during the requirements-gathering phase of a project. Accurately documents new requirements, enhancements to existing functionality, and implementation deficiencies that need to be addressed.
Development: Based on requirements, develops functionality by following internal development standards. The technical solution includes detailed design documentation, code, configuration, and other supporting technical documents.
Testing: Performs unit, regression, connectivity and full end-to-end integration tests, when it applies; Supports quality insurance effort to gain user acceptance.
Delivery: Works collaboratively with inter-departmental and cross-departmental resources to migrate new or enhanced functionality from test to production. Provides effective communication across the team as appropriate. Follows change control standards and processes for release to production.
Functions as a liaison with end users, research groups and other business support areas.
Leads the design and development of web applications and services that run on cloud platforms. Uses Git to control code management lifecycle to ensure the quality and accuracy of the codebase.
Facilitates design and technical meetings. Provides technical documentation to internal business and design teams.
Instructs, guides, and mentors junior-level programmers/analysts.
Provides systems support during special events such as mission-critical system upgrades, integration platform upgrades, new application go-lives, application failover exercises and disaster recovery drills.
Implements enterprise policies for security and confidentiality at the system and inter-system level.
Provides support in the role of a backup to other members of the team.
Performs other duties as assigned or required by management.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, is required. Master's degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
4-5 years of professional experience in healthcare industries working with medical imaging data. Experience programming at an intermediate to advanced skill level with a high-level programming language such as Python, C++, or R. College projects may be acceptable. Experience programming at a basic to intermediate proficiency level in C++, Python, and R.
3 years of experience managing application design, software development, and maintenance.
2 years of experience in image processing, interactive imaging applications, and/or computer vision.
Proven troubleshooting skills; meticulous with strong attention to detail.
Critical thinking skills to understand user needs and business goals, and translate them into well-designed code.
Creative and organized with a proven ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and utilize time effectively.
Executes all job responsibilities and assignments promptly, reliably, honestly, and ethically.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interface with multiple teams.
Strong presentation skills, ability to explain technical considerations and recommendations to both peers and clients/stakeholders.
