The broad research interests of the lab are in understanding the molecular mechanisms through which new gene expression patterns evolve in yeasts, including fungal pathogens of humans. Applicant will conduct research in microbial genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry, involving, but not limited to, primer design, PCR, yeast and bacterial transformations, gene disruption, validation colony PCRs, plasmid construction, sequencing, RNA extraction and sequencing, quantitative real-time qPCR, and functional analysis of microbial deletion mutants; perform general lab maintenance of laboratory stocks of DNA, bacteria, and yeast strains; update relevant databases; send requested strains out, main
