Applicants must have a Ph.D. or Ph.D equivalent degree required.
Teaching responsibilities may include mentoring of PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as formal course directing and lecture opportunities within the Perelman School of Medicine.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include (1) Identification of genetic risk factors for Alzheimer's Disease utilizing PNGC's extensive data collection and cutting-edge genomic analysis tools; (2) Development of genomic biomarkers for early diagnosis and risk prediction using genetic and genomic approaches; (3) Functional genomics and mechanisms of neurodegeneration genetic susceptibility; (4) Therapeutic target discovery and validation by integrating human genetic and functional data; (5) Investigation of the genetic basis of neurodegenerative diseases across diverse populations to understand health disparities.
The Penn Neurodegeneration Genomics Center (PNGC) at the University of Pennsylvania is a premier research institute at the forefront of understanding the genetic mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases. PNGC is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, combining genomics, bioinformatics, neuroscience, and clinical research. Our faculty members benefit from the center's substantial grant funding and leadership roles in major consortia and unparalleled opportunities for high-impact research and access to extensive biobank resources. PNGC is uniquely positioned to drive groundbreaking discoveries in conditions including Alzheimer's disease, Progress Supranuclear Palsy, and other related dementias.
As a tenure-track faculty member, the appointee will display accomplishment in developing a nationally or internationally recognized independent research program supported by extramural funding and synergizing with the PNGC AD genetics portfolio. For full professor appointment leadership in the field should be evident.
Priorities will be given to candidates with strengths in managing large collaborative genomics research projects, can contribute to or synergize with our primary Alzheimer's disease (AD) genetics portfolio.
