Description: The Brooks lab in The Molecular Biology Department at Princeton University seeks to mechanistically determine how microbial cues promote innate and adaptive immune functions. We explore this question across both time and space as it occurs in the gastrointestinal tract. Our group is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate or more senior researcher to characterize the impact of microbial metabolites on animal immunity. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative group with strengths in cell biology, mouse genetics, and molecular biology. The P.I. is dedicated to providing a nurturing training environment with the acknowledgment that mentorship must be tailored to the individual. The ideal applicant will be highly motivated; have a Ph.D. degree; research experience in one or more of the following cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, and/or microbiology; excellent oral communication and writing skills, preferred. The Term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments. Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: metabolomics, bioinformatics, and/or bacterial genetics. Applications from members of groups historically under-represented in molecular biology are strongly encouraged.
