Division Director of Perinatal Genetics:

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a Division Director of Perinatal Genetics to lead and oversee genetic counseling services within the department. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Genetic Counselor to shape and expand a multidisciplinary program, ensuring high-quality patient care, education, and research in reproductive genetics.

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance genetic counseling services within OB/GYN

• Oversee clinical operations, ensuring efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, and adherence to best practices

• Collaborate with faculty, clinicians, and administrators to strengthen interdisciplinary partnerships

• Serve as an Instructor in the Department of OB/GYN and actively participate in the UM SOM Master's in Genetic Counseling program

• Supervise and mentor genetic counseling trainees, as well as medical students, residents, and fellows

• Lead educational initiatives and contribute to curriculum development in genetic counseling

• Collaborate with faculty on research projects to advance knowledge in genetic counseling and prenatal genetics

• Provide comprehensive prenatal and preconception genetic counseling to patients and their families

• Strong commitment to patient care and teaching
• Ability to create a collaborative partnership with stakeholders, reinforcing positive working relationships with the opportunity to build a strong community-based clinical program within the context of an academic environment
• Professionalism, effective communication, patient safety, and continuous practice improvement

* Master's degree from a graduate program accredited by the Accreditation Council of Genetic Counseling and/or active board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Genetic Counseling

* Minimum of five years of experience in genetic counseling and demonstrated leadership experience in program development, administration, and interdisciplinary collaboration

* Strong teaching, mentorship, and research experience preferred

Salary Range: $90,000-$140,000

The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the Departmental faculty compensation program or pay from participation in Departmental variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. For more information, please contact the hiring department.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
