Path 1 Kawader: Research Assistant - Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB)
New York University
Application
Details
Posted: 20-Mar-25
Location: Abu Dhabi
Internal Number: 165168
The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Research Assistant. The position will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi and supervised by Dr. Piergiorgio Percipalle, with a start date during AY25-26.
The Research Assistant will contribute to an ongoing project in the lab on the 3D genome/epigenome during cell differentiation and tumorigenesis, focusing on how cytoskeletal proteins like actin and myosin regulate chromatin architecture and gene expression. They will use biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology techniques, along with mouse stem cell models in 2D and 3D cultures (organoids), advanced imaging, and genome-wide analyses. The goal is to explore the mechanisms underlying chromatin rewiring during differentiation and disease. Results from these studies have potential to open unprecedented avenues to understand the mechanisms that control the mammalian genome, how these mechanisms may also impact on genome stability and integrity and how this knowledge may be applied to personalized medicine.
NYUAD offers a stimulating research environment, a distinguished community of outstanding researchers, and is enhanced by state-of-the-art research facilities that are institutionally supported. We are dedicated to being inclusive and welcome all backgrounds and life experiences. The terms of employment include a highly competitive salary, housing allowance, and other benefits.
Applicants must have a BSc and MSc in cell and molecular biology or equivalent and an Experience in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, keen interest to work on the 3D organization of the mammalian genome and epigenome during the process of cell differentiation and at the onset of tumorigenesis and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
