Position Summary:
The University of Nebraska Medical Center's College of Public Health, in collaboration with Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, Eppley Institute, and Child Health Research Institute, seeks to recruit a faculty member with expertise in cancer and environmental health research. We are particularly interested in candidates specializing on research fields focused on the exposome, gene-environment interactions, environmental epidemiology, environmental mixtures, environmental epigenetics, chromatin regulation, DNA repair, cell signaling, and chemical carcinogenesis.
Required Qualifications:
The academic qualifications for this Cancer and The Environment faculty position include:
Doctoral Degree: A Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in a relevant field such as Cancer Biology, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Genetics, or a related biomedical or public health field.
Postdoctoral Research Experience: Strong preference for candidates with postdoctoral experience or equivalent advanced research training in cancer and environmental health sciences.
Research Funding Record: Demonstrated success in obtaining research funding, with emphasis on funding record appropriate for faculty rank.
Publications: A strong publication record in areas related to cancer and environmental interactions, such as gene-environment interactions, environmental epidemiology, or chemical carcinogenesis.
Collaborative Experience: Proven ability to work within interdisciplinary teams, ideally with experience in collaborative projects involving public health, cancer research, and environmental sciences.
Supplemental Qualifications:
For this Cancer and The Environment faculty position, additional research-focused qualifications include:
Proven Track Record of Independent Research: A history of leading research projects, particularly in areas such as gene-environment interactions, environmental mixtures, epigenetics, childhood cancer, or environmental epidemiology.
Experience with Grant Writing and Funding: Demonstrated success in securing external funding from NIH, especially for cancer and environmental health research.
Advanced Methodological Expertise: Proficiency with cutting-edge research methods, such as environmental exposure assessment, bioinformatics, or molecular biology techniques relevant to carcinogenesis studies.
Experience with Mentoring Students and Staff: Demonstrated experience in mentoring students and staff for developing future leaders in research and healthcare.
Experience with Teaching: An ideal candidate will be able to communicate on complex concepts, provide an inclusive and engaging environment, and experience in designing and delivering relevant graduate-level curricula.
