The Division of Genetics and Metabolism within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Clinical Geneticist to join our Division of Genetics and Metabolism. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.

Founded in 1972, the Division of Genetics and Metabolism is one of the first medical genetics services in the United States. Its multidisciplinary specialists work with patients and families to provide diagnostic, counseling, care management, and referral services for a wide range of genetic conditions. Physicians, genetic counselors, dieticians, nurses, and fellows provide specialty care in clinics that address bone dysplasia, neurocutaneous disorders, birthmarks and vascular anomalies, bone and mineral metabolism, and gender and sexual development. Genetic scientists investigate the genetic basis of inherited disorders and develop new molecular techniques for use in newborn screening. The division has strong partnerships with the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, UW-Madison's Waisman Center, and the UW Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine (CHGPM), with which the division co-leads the UW Center for Rare Diseases as a National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) Center of Excellence.

For appointments hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) Track:
- Provide metabolic and general genetics pediatric patient care staffing clinics at the Waisman Center and metabolic call coverage at UW Health Kids-American Family Children's Hospital.
- Provide clinical teaching in biochemical genetics which could include chart reviews or didactic teaching to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.

- Appointments on the CHS Track will include: independent research/scholarly research in genetic basis of inherited disorders activities that promote the health and development of children. The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

For appointments hired on the Clinician-Teacher (CT) Track:
- Provide metabolic and general genetics pediatric patient care staffing clinics at the Waisman Center and metabolic call coverage at UW Health Kids-American Family Children's Hospital.

- Provide clinical teaching in biochemical genetics which could include chart reviews or didactic teaching to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.

This vacancy is being announced as either CHS or CT Track. Having two tracks posted into this vacancy listing allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider clinical teacher faculty candidates with or without research credentials for this non-tenure-track position. CHS Track duties may consist of dedicated FTE time for scholarly work and teaching.

- Completion of an ACGME-approved pathway for categorical training in a medical genetics and genomics residency or combined ACGME primary specialty (e.g. pediatrics, internal medicine)/Medical Genetics and Genomics residency training program is required.
- Completion of a Clinical Biochemical Genetics fellowship program is preferred, but not required.
- Evidence of excellence in clinical care and clinical and/or didactic teaching is required.
- Interest/Experience in academic research is an asset and is preferred.
