Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Mian lab in the Human Biology Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center has an immediate opening for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. The core focus of the Mian Lab is on understanding the basic biology and treatment resistance mechanisms of prostate and bladder cancer. Our group employs cutting edge molecular techniques and will work closely with other solid tumor oncology research teams throughout the Human Biology Division and Fred Hutch Cancer Center.

Responsibilities

For this position, the applicant will utilize murine genetics, whole transcriptome ribosome profiling, functional genomics, RNA labeling/sequencing techniques, various cellular and molecular assays, and a one-of-a-kind biorepository of primary and metastatic human prostate and bladder cancer samples to understand how the translation apparatus promotes cancer phenotypes.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Recent PhD and/or MD degree(s)
• A record of productive research
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Strong ability to think rationally, problem solve, and troubleshoot experiments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A strong background in murine work, high throughput methods, RNA biology, and/or computational biology are highly desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Highly proficient in a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques, and has a strong fundamental knowledge of cancer genetics and epigenetics
• Molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, nucleic acid isolation, PCR, and protein expression analysis.
• Experience performing gene transfer studies using lentiviral infection of human cell cultures.
• Computational processing of RNA and DNA sequencing files.
• Experience with primary and established immortalized cell cultures

The annual base salary range for this position is from $77,976 to $150,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
