The Department of Mathematics at SUNY Geneseo is seeking applicants for an opening as a full-time, two-year PRODiG+ Fellowship (Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) Fellowship) to begin August 2025. The PRODiG+ Fellowship is designed to (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates. This position will be eligible to convert to a tenure-track role in the Department of Mathematics upon completion of the two-year fellowship through an internal promotion process. Our priority is teaching excellence. We seek someone with an enthusiastic commitment to undergraduate instruction at all levels, and the ability to teach a variety of courses that serve our mathematics students and students in our service courses.
Duties include:
Teaching lower-level and service courses in statistics and mathematics, such as applied statistics and calculus,
Teaching upper-level undergraduate courses in statistics and mathematics, such as biostatistics, bioinformatics, or data analytics,
Pursuing an active and ongoing research agenda in statistics or mathematics,
Providing academic advisement to students,
Contributing to the department through committee service, and
Contributing service to the campus community and the discipline.
The Department of Mathematics (15 full-time members) encompasses both pure and applied mathematics, as well as very strong secondary mathematics teacher preparation and actuarial programs, with a growing interest in data science. The department offers a B.S. in Applied Mathematics, B.S. in Mathematics, B.A. in Mathematics, B.A. in Mathematics with Adolescence (Secondary Education) Certification, Minor in Mathematics, and Concentration in Mathematics for Elementary Education.

Required Qualifications:
PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, or a related field by August 2025.
Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
Demonstrated interest in and preparation to teach calculus-based probability, calculus-based statistics, and courses that support data analytics, biostatistics, or bioinformatics.
Evidence of an active and ongoing research agenda.
Demonstration of personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/ unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in or enthusiasm for teaching statistics and mathematics at the undergraduate level.
Demonstrated interest in and ability to supervise undergraduate research in statistics or data science or mathematics.
Demonstrated interest in and preparation to teach courses in actuarial science.
Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.
