The Cell Death Signaling Laboratory at New York University in Abu Dhabi invites applications for a passionate and innovative research scientist position focusing on the role of tumor suppressor protein prostate apoptosis response-4 (Par-4) in reactive oxygen species-mediated oxeiptosis cell death mechanism. The candidate will be involved in conducting advanced biochemical and molecular biology experiments to investigate the interaction of Par-4 and oxeiptosis. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in cell biology, biochemistry, and cell signaling pathways. The applicant should have excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to present research findings effectively through presentations and publications.
Responsibilities of the position include:
In this role, the applicant will design and conduct experiments to explore cell death signaling mechanisms, utilizing techniques such as cell culture, molecular biology, and advanced cell imaging.
The candidate will analyze data to determine how Par-4 influences oxeiptosis signaling and cell fate, and you will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to advance our understanding of its therapeutic potential.
Conduct experiments using techniques such as mammalian cell culture, transient and stable transfection, shRNA and Crispr mediated knock down and knockout experiments, DNA/RNA isolation, RNA seq and gene expression analysis, qRT PCR, fluorescent microscopy, FACS analysis, cell sorting, western blotting and immunoprecipitation experiments.
The candidate should present key research findings in national and international conferences.
The applicant should have experience in proper laboratory inventory management, ordering laboratory requirements from different vendors, and keeping the laboratory running without any delay in supplies.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. The ideal candidate should have expertise in cell death signaling pathways and related techniques (Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, Cell imaging assays using fluorescent microscopy, DNA and RNA isolation, agarose gel electrophoresis, and real-time PCR), proficiency in cell culture (adherent cells, and suspension cells), FACS analysis and cell sorting, molecular cloning, gene expression analysis (RNA seq), and biochemical assays (ROS assays, caspase assays, GSH assay) and strong analytical skills and experience with data interpretation (graph pad prism, reference manager software?s- Endnote, and Zotero). The candidate must also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
It would be preferred if the candidate possesses 8 year research experience in various cell death signaling mechanisms, including Oxeiptosis, ferroptosis autophagy, and apoptosis, expertise in RNA/DNA isolation, qRT PCR, RNA seq and gene expression analysis, cytotoxic assay (MTT, WST, LDH release, and ATP depletion assay), western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and transient and stable transfection techniques, and expertise in protein-protein interaction studies to find possible phosphorylation and cleavage site, as well as strong analytical skills and experience in data interpretation using Graph pad prism, and citation manager softwares including Endnote and Zotero.
Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a transcript of degree, a research statement, and at least 2 letters of recommendation, all in PDF format.
