The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, located at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an inpatient clinical geneticist to join in our clinical, research and teaching activities.
The Division serves inpatients and outpatients of all ages in a variety of disciplines several subspeciality clinics. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other geneticists, genetic counselors, and ICU specialists to build the future of inpatient genetic care, with an emphasis on rapid diagnosis of critically ill infants and children. The inpatient team member will join an expanding team that currently consists of eleven clinical geneticists (three metabolic), 18 genetic counselors, two full-time metabolic dieticians, three nurse practitioners, and metabolic medical assistants/LPNs. Full genetics laboratory services on site include biochemical genetics, cytogenetics, and molecular diagnostic labs including on-site rapid genome sequencing.
The Division also supports a Clinical Genetics residency program, and fellowships in Medical Biochemical, Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics. Nationwide Children’s is 1 of 8 Regional Genetics Centers funded by the Ohio Department of Health, serving over 3.5 million (>750,000 pediatric age) in central, northwest and southeast Ohio, with 35,000 births annually.

Support for clinical trials and natural history studies are available through the Division for appropriately credentialed candidates. Projects leveraging medical informatics and implementation of high throughput genetic testing are of high interest. The investigators associated with the Research Institute have frequent collaborations with clinical faculty. Additionally, a main strategic focus at Nationwide Children’s is the implementation of genomic medicine across the hospital led by the Steve and Cindy Rasmussen Institute for Genomic Medicine, which is closely affiliated with the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine. The Division also closely collaborates with the Center for Gene Therapy.
