Summary of Duties:
The Food Microbiology Lab at Washington State University is seeking two highly motivated and independent Postdoctoral Research Associates to join our team. Our lab specializes in food microbiology and safety, with research areas including pathogen intervention and control strategies, the interaction between foodborne pathogens and resident microbiota in foods, and the analysis, modeling, and prediction of dynamic microbiomes in food and food processing environments.
This position is for one (1) year with the possibility of renewal for two (2) additional years based on satisfactory performance. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of researchers in an interdisciplinary setting and engage with the surrounding food industry.
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple positions.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Engineering, or a related field, with a proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
Strong interpersonal and scientific communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and within a team in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with experience with metagenomic sequencing, R programing and modeling, or other bioinformatics tools are preferred.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

This is a temporary, non-tenure track position expected to end on December 31, 2025. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
