The breast center offers care for individuals who have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, are at high risk for breast cancer, or are breast cancer survivors. Patients have access to skilled surgeons, nurse navigators, genetic counseling, encouraging services, and clinical trials exclusively available at Cedars-Sinai.
What will you be doing:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for applying the nursing process, supervising clinical practice, conducting research, and providing consultative services, education, leadership, and patient care management. This role involves working with a board-certified physician to provide expert care to Breast Surgical Oncology patients, including those with breast abnormalities and high-risk surveillance. The NP may have an independent clinical practice.
Responsible to the medical director and the chief nursing officer (CNO) and functions as an integral part of the medical team.
Apply the Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedures according to the Board of Registered Nursing California code of regulations, Title 16, Article 8, Section 1480-1485. These procedures are developed collaboratively with the department of Nursing, Hospital Administration, and specialty area, aligning with CSHS goals and promoting an interdisciplinary patient care approach.
Provides individualized care upholding CSHS philosophies including but not limited to care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, the Plan for Provision of Patient Care, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan, the Professional Organization Standards, Code of Conduct, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental achievements of the population(s) served, including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Assess the ability of the specific age group to understand instructions and give consent. Address safety concerns and implement measures for a secure environment. Provide appropriate assessment, intervention, and evaluation, considering the developmental achievements of the patients.
Manages an independent practice for breast abnormalities, high-risk surveillance, and long-term follow up for cancer patients.
Builds, develops, and maintains relationships with key collaborators such as Genetic Counselors, Breast Imaging/Breast Radiologists, Breast Surgical Oncologists, and fellow Nurse Practitioners.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner???s program.
California Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and Furnishing License.
DEA License (schedule 2-5).
National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Basic Life Support Certification.
One (1) plus years??? experience as Nurse Practitioner, preferably in Oncology.
Current oncology specific nursing certification by a nationally accredited certification program and ANCC recognized; or 12 ongoing cancer-related education continuing nursing education hours [Commission on Cancer] during years not oncology certified
