The University of Illinois Chicago, College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of natural products drug discovery. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences comprises the basic science disciplines within the College of Pharmacy at UIC. Located in the heart of the Illinois Medical District in Chicago, the UIC College of Pharmacy consistently ranks in the Top Ten U.S. Colleges of Pharmacy in total funding from the National Institutes of Health. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a highly collaborative, research-active unit with faculty organized across four program concentrations: Pharmacognosy, Chemistry in Drug Discovery, Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery, and Molecular Mechanisms and Therapeutics. Position Summary The Department is committed to supporting its faculty at all levels and has a structured mentoring program in place for junior faculty. The new faculty member is expected to establish strong collaborations with the UIC faculty and may benefit from close interactions with the UICentre, UIC's Campus-wide Drug Discovery Enterprise (https://drugdiscovery.uic.edu), the Institute for Tuberculosis Research (https://itr.pharmacy.uic.edu), the University of Illinois Cancer Center (https://cancer.uillinois.edu), and the Pharmacognosy Institute (https://pharmacognosy.pharmacy.uic.edu).
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a strong, extramurally-funded, independent research program.
Teach in the undergraduate, professional, and graduate programs of the College of Pharmacy.
Engage in internal service by participating on Department, College, and University committees. Provide external service through community, professional, and publishing organizations at the local, regional, and (inter)national levels.
Collaborate with faculty to establish strong and positive pre- and post-doctoral learning environments.
Perform other related duties and contribute to special projects as needed.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, Synthetic Biology, Pharmacognosy or a related discipline
Relevant postdoctoral experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Priority will be given to applicants whose research focuses on natural product drug discovery and incorporates elements of one or more of the following disciplines: bioinformatics, genetics, plant sciences, microbiology, and synthetic/chemical biology.
