A salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. Position Description
Russell Corbett-Detig in the Biomolecular Engineering Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for the position Local Ancestry Inference AI Researcher.
The hiring unit, within the Biomolecular Engineering Department at UCSC focuses on research and education at the intersection of biology, computer science, and engineering, to drive advances in areas such as genomics, synthetic biology, bioinformatics, and biomolecular modeling.
Under the direction of Professor Corbett-Detig, the research specialist will contribute towards genomic data analysis, and software methods development.
An ideal candidate would have general knowledge in python programming and application of machine learning packages such as tensor flow. The research specialist will be expected to develop, through hands-on training, a working knowledge of local ancestry inference methodology
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
B.S. degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in machine learning or applied statistical inference.
Experience developing machine learning methods for extracting complex models from data.
