Your Role on the Team
Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, follow oral and written instructions; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Under close supervision incumbents perform simple duties of a routine nature in a research laboratory. Incumbents wash, wrap and sterilize glassware, equipment and/or instruments; fill, label and distribute media and reagent bottles; clean, check and replenish standard laboratory equipment and supplies and order new stocks of supplies as necessary; dust and wash shelves and counters; clean sinks; check and record temperatures of refrigerators and incubators; check and clean centrifuges; keep standard solution bottles filled; prepare labels; and keep records of supplies furnished. This is a Salmonella laboratory. The incumbent would already have experience in a similar job in an infectious disease lab and would get annual refresher training.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
Previous experience in a similar position in an infectious disease research laboratory
Ability to fluently read and write and perform basic mathematical calculations
Associates degree or a post-high school certification with an emphasis in a biological science
Five or more years of experience as a lab helper or equivalent in an infectious disease laboratory
