The MIT Department of Biological Engineering in Cambridge, MA invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant professor level, to begin July 1, 2025 or on a mutually agreeable date thereafter. MIT Biological Engineering is a unique department combining quantitative, physical, and integrative principles with advances in mechanistic molecular and cellular bioscience.

This faculty search is open to all areas of research in biological engineering that are predominantly computational. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Biological Engineering, Computer Science or a related science or engineering discipline by the beginning of employment and should have demonstrated experience in computational biological engineering research. The search is for candidates to be hired at the assistant professor level; under special circumstances, however, an untenured associate or senior faculty appointment is possible, commensurate with experience. The department culture is vibrant, creative, and collaborative, and we strive to help each member of the community reach their greatest potential. Faculty duties include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Biological Engineering and related subjects and developing course materials, conducting original scholarly research, as well as advising, training and mentoring students and junior researchers.  Candidates should be capable of instructing in our core biological engineering educational curricula.
