Your Impact
As the Genetic Services Consultant, you will work closely with healthcare providers, payers, and public health professionals to improve access to genetic services, including genetic risk assessments, testing, counseling, and follow-up care. You will also manage statewide partnerships and guide the implementation of contracts that improve access to these critical services.
Key Responsibilities Include
Collaborate with Partners: Identify and build relationships with healthcare providers, insurance payers, and other key stakeholders to improve access to genetic services. This includes working with primary care, tribal clinics, public health clinics, and other settings.
Promote Best Practices: Use evidence-informed approaches to promote and optimize genetic services across the state, helping to reduce barriers and improve outcomes for underserved populations.
Create Resources and Provide Training: Develop educational materials and training programs for clinicians, and work with a statewide workgroup of subject matter experts to ensure the latest information is shared and implemented.
Contract Management: Coordinate and manage contracts with Regional Genetics Clinics to ensure services are accessible to those in need. This includes processing invoices, tracking deliverables, and maintaining regular communication with contractors.
Five (5) years of experience in staffing, developing, managing, or consulting for genetic services or prenatal/pediatric healthcare programs focused on genetic and/or congenital conditions. This experience must include working with advisory committees, advocacy organizations, or professional associations related to healthcare.
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in community health, public health, social work, human genetics, or a closely related field may substitute for up to four (4) years of the required five (5) or more years of experience detailed above.
