The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) seeks to fill multiple open-rank (Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor) tenure system faculty positions in the Department of Biological Sciences. There are three priority areas for hiring: (1) biochemistry, particularly the biochemistry of metabolic disorders, cancer, and other human diseases, (2) bioinformatics and computational biology, and (3) neurobiology. The Department seeks candidates addressing broad and significant questions in biological and biomedical research, especially those using novel interdisciplinary, computational, and/or experimental approaches. We are looking for individuals to lead outstanding research and teaching programs that complement the existing departmental research and teaching strengths and synergize with other departments within the school and/or across the University. The appointment commences for the fall 2025 semester.

Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in biology, biochemistry, computational biology, or a related discipline is required prior to employment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Education and Experience: Teaching experience and/or experience in mentorship of junior scientists is strongly preferred. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should have postdoctoral research experience in a relevant field and the potential to secure extramural funding. Applicants for Associate and Full Professor positions should have a track record of research productivity and external funding commensurate with the rank.

· Statement of teaching philosophy describing their conceptualizations of teaching and learning, and teaching and assessment methods, and how their teaching practices will engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
