Position Summary The Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Assistant Professor. The Department has a strong commitment to research in prostate cancer. The areas of expertise include cancer genetics, metabolism, environmental toxicity as these relate to prostate cancer risk and outcome. Candidates with basic and translational research interests in this area are encouraged to apply.
The School is located at the heart of the University of Illinois Chicago West campus in a highly interactive biomedical research environment. The successful candidate will be recruited to the Department of Pathology and will be able to affiliate with University-wide Institutes and Centers including the Cancer Center.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct in vitro experiments, in vivo work, in silico analysis, and create reports.
Train postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and undergraduates.
Keep PI updated on laboratory ongoing activities and issues.
Attend weekly laboratory meetings, journal clubs, seminars and participate in the prostate cancer Working Group.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Biology or related field, post-doctoral training and evidence of being able to independently manage a research laboratory.
Preferred Qualification
Expertise in any of the following areas: molecular genetics, the biology of prostate cancer, CRISPR gene editing, bioinformatics of sequencing data, arsenic metabolism and toxicity, in silico analyses, reactive oxygen species and anti-oxidant function.
A strong publication record and good spoken and written English are essential to apply for this job.
