The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan) is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer in the Division of Diagnostic Genetics & Genomics (DGG) to support its dual missions of clinical testing and genomics research.

Develop and support a range of genomics software applications, including data processing pipelines and web frontends.
Focus on full-stack development, with an emphasis on data engineering and responsive front-end interfaces.
Transition existing and new workloads from on-prem infrastructure to major cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AWS).
Develop and incorporate machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into genomics applications to improve their utility and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver user-friendly solutions.
Promote best practices in software development, participate in code reviews, and write documentation to support an agile development cycle at the DGG.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a diverse team.
Can do attitude with strong independent problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Python and experience with full-stack development (front-end and back-end).
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Experience with version control using Git and team-based software development.
One to two years systems analysis/programming activities in a business environment.
Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time.
Interests at the intersection of healthcare, big data, and machine learning
Familiarity with data engineering concepts.
Basic understanding of cloud services (Azure, GCP, AWS).
Experience with RESTful APIs and Python back-end frameworks.
Knowledge of database systems (SQL Server, Postgres) and query optimization.
